One of the main causes of lower back pain is an imbalance of two opposing muscle groups. Your lower back muscles and abdominal muscles. Strong abdominals support proper posture. If your abs are week it puts more stress on your lower back to support yourself, adding more work on your back then it is meant to handle. An imbalance of opposing muscle groups is actually the cause of many muscle injuries. For example many people get torn hamstrings because their quadriceps are much stronger. Your abs are the core of your body. The main supportive center of your temple you might say. If the main support of your temple is week, the rest of the structure will be week and unstable.

Strengthening your abs is vital to performing optimally in any sport and even in day to day activities. Strong abs can improve your entire lively hood, helping you function better and feel better as you get older.
