The Key to Six-Pack Abs
By Shawn Kocab
Lets get something clear right now. If you want a
defined six pack, fat loss is key. All those hi-tech ab machines you see on TV that have someone claiming they
got sculpted abs in 30 days are very misleading. Do not believe the hype. Those individuals did not get
defined abs by simply just using the product that is being advertised. They did it proper dieting as well as
other anaerobic and aerobic exercises. If you want to see your abs, it’s your body fat level that matters, not
how many sit-ups you can do. You can have extremely strong abs and do 300 crunches with no problem. But you
wont see a 6-pack without losing some of the fat that covers your abs first.

We all have 6-pack abs, it’s just hidden beneath the fat around our bellies. Personally I believe
having stronger abdominal muscles is more beneficial and practical then being able to see your abs. You’ve seen
those slender guys who have extremely defined abs, some look like they have a 8-pack. You look at their abs and say
“Wow I wish I had abs like that.” Just because you can see them doesn’t mean they got there from hard work. Many of
those guy would struggle doing 50 sit-ups. You only see their abs because they have don't have much body fat.
Working out your abdominal region is not going to be enough to start seeing definition in your midsection. The
workouts performed with most of those miracle abs machines you see in infomercials can increase abdominal strength
and endurance, but they do not provide enough of a calorie burning workout to increase abdominal definition.
Doing abdominal exercises alone just does not burn enough calories to constitute for any kind of sufficient fat
loss. If you want to start seeing your abs, men should shoot for a body fat percentage around 10% to 12%. Women
should strive for around 15% percent and under. For understanding body fat percentages and figuring out your own
body fat level, refer to the Body Fat Percentages section.
